Trip Report

Needed Colden and RPR for the spring round.

Did the trap dike as the ascent of Colden. Did the new slide to the summit. This is the BEST way to climb out of the dike. Descent was fast despite a lot of crowds on the trail. Made it back to the Loj in 6 hours car-to-car (also took the old Loj trail into the campground).

Drove to ridge trailhead and started on Giant and RPR. It had gotten much hotter so that took the wind out of our sails. We both pretty much ran out of water, but we still managed to do the hike in 5 hours car-to-car. Finally got hit with blackflies for the first time this season on both of the summits.

The Good and The Bad

The Good:

Great views
Climbing the new slide out of the TD

The Bad:

Froze up a bit on the crux in the TD, needed to commit to the big step
Black flies

The Drive

Up 3, down 8, dinner on the way home at mountain market
