People On The Trip

Trip Report

John needed these peaks for his 46 so we decided to join him. We made great time along the lake road, enjoying the company chatting it up and in no time we were at the lake. We stopped at rainbow falls first and then climbed up to the col. During the climb we leap frogged with a family doing Sawteeth.

Nicole and I were still practically hung over from our stupid plan the previous night/day so we were dragging ass. Sawteeth went by fast, but the climb up Pyramid was tough (and never-ending). When we were at the top of Pyramid it was all worth it though because those views are amazing.

The climb over to Gothics was nothing to write home about and soon enough we were soaking in the views from the top. On the descent of Gothics I got a head start on Nicole and John knowing they would eventually catch me on the "ascent" of Armstrong. The trail down that side of Gothics is a great choice for making good time.

After we hung around on Armstrong for a while we back-tracked to the Beaver Meadows trail and began our descent. Man, the steep downhill portions of this trail never seem to end.

Eventually we were back at the bottom and the lake road. I had enough hiking for the day so I jogged the 2 miles back to the gate before briskly walking the rest of the way back to the car. I was able to pick up John and Nicole just after the tennis courts.
