Great trail conditions, practically ran to the summit of whiteface to try and catch a view before bad weather blew in (turns out the bad weather was blowing out!). Made it to the summit in 3 hours from the ASRC (and this includes taking the extra time to break out the ridge trail from the wilmington turn to the summit. The ridge trail was an adventure with snow drifts over 4 feet deep and the wind whipping snow into our faces.|
The descent was fun back to the Esther junction but I paid for my fast climb of whiteface by bonking considerably on the climb up Esther. I had also forgotten that it was around 1 mile to Esther, not 1 mile round trip.
We had our butt sleds for the descent and made absurdly fast time going down marble mountain
The Good and The Bad
3 Hours up Whiteface!
Bonking on Esther
|Stayed at cascade inn, the roads from LP to Wilmington were treacherous at 6 am but we made it without incident|
