People On The Trip

Trip Report

Both of these trips had turned us back previously, so we were happy to get back and get some revenge.

      Day 1 (12/29/09)

      Hancock Loop

      9.8 mi

      2650 ft gain

      It was cold, snowing

      Day 2 (12/31/2009)

      7.2 mi (10.2 w/o ski descent)

      3600 ft gain

Skinned up the polecat, the ridge was more challenging than expected (1500' gain for the out and back traverse)

The Good and The Bad

The Good:

Success after getting turned back on previous trips
Following others tracks on the ridges to make navigation easier
Some limited views
The ski descent of wildcat
The sledding descent of the hancocks

The Bad:

The freezing temps on Hancocks
Bad ski conditions on Wildcat
Lackluster views

The Drive

Uneventful. We took a day off at the Addario residence on Wednesday and did some (more) shopping in Conway.
