People On The Trip

Trip Report

Late start - around 2:40ish, but the sun wasn\'t setting for another 6 hours! We moved, and before we knew it, the 4km mark was coming up on the gps screen and it was barely 3:40! The trails were very well maintained, a little muddy from the rain the day before - but no Santanoni-like mud, so we kept on trudging. We got to the junction around 4:40, Nye by 4:47, looked for any views [no such luck] so headed over to Street [some views, nothing really picturesque sadly], and back to the junction by 5:30 and on our way down. Easy going down - a little slippery, nothing terrible. Signed out by 7:30 and back to LOJ parking lot [which had cleared out from when we first got there!]

The Good and The Bad

The Good:

Kicking butt on the time
Rock hopping over the first crossing [and learning that the people we ran into at the end of the trip tried to throw his boots across it and turns out his boots float...all the way down the creek!]

The Bad:

NO VIEWS! and nearly walking past both summits because we weren\'t looking high enough in the trees for the signs.

The Drive

Lots of traffic - apparently late Saturday mornings are NOT the ideal time to be traveling thru Tupper Lake and Lake Placid...nor is the evening when Vermont hippies decide they want to look at Lake Placid via their truck and only drive 5mph thru the entire town

Finally got the hours for the Lumberjack - 7am-8pm every day [missed it by 54mins!]
